Jump the Waitlist for Microsoft's New AI-Powered Bing
Unless you're living under a rock, you've heard about Microsoft's new and improved Bing, a browser that hasn't been taken seriously since 2005. Not yet fully released, the new AI-enhanced Bing promises to bring ChatGPT-like responses using the most recent information available on the internet, the absence of which is the largest limitation of ChatGPT (which has been trained on data that had information up to early 2022, and isn't aware of any events that have occurred since).
If you want to try the new Bing, here's the signup for the waitlist. There's already over a million people waiting for access, so to move up the list, Microsoft suggests doing the following (most of these options are PC exclusive, but the mobile app works for iOS and Android):
Download the Bing app for your mobile phone (they'll give you a QR code to do so after you've signed up to the waitlist).
Make Edge your default browser (works on all systems)
Make Bing your default search engine.
Make MSN your default homepage.
Pin Bing.com to the Taskbar.
Add Microsoft-recommended sites to Favorites.
Create a desktop shortcut for Microsoft Edge.
Once you've signed up for the waitlist, you'll see the suggestions from Microsoft themselves. If you get access to Bing, reply to this email to let us know what you think!
Why this matters: This is yet another tool that will help you be more productive, whether it's for your business, school, or workplace. We also think it's important to keep up to date with the latest developments in AI - you never know what could inspire your next business idea.
Google Loses $100 Billion in Value as Bard, It's New AI Chatbot, Flops in Rushed Demo
Last week, Google showed the world just how far behind Microsoft it is in the race to commercialize AI, and the markets punished the company by wiping 9% off of its value. The demo event wasn't even an actual launch event, rather just a showcase of what's 'coming soon' - while Microsoft, a day earlier, let the first users try the new version of Bing. Google appears, even from some internal perspectives, to be in a state of chaos as they hastily attempt to respond to Microsoft and ChatGPT. Let's see if Sundar can right the ship and create products that can compete with Microsoft - otherwise we might see an era of near-complete domination by Microsoft.
Why this matters: If you're looking for the most up-to-date and reliable AI tools and services to help you build your business or to amplify your productivity, products from Microsoft should be your go-to for the moment. We'll update you when and if Google releases anything worth your time.
ChatGPT Plus Now Available in Germany
We mentioned just two weeks ago that ChatGPT Plus was launching in the US, and even included a link to the waitlist - but it's now already launched in Germany. ChatGPT Plus will run you $23.80 per month, which at the time of writing is roughly €22.25. To refresh you again, ChatGPT Plus offers you the following benefits over the free version:
Available even when demand is high
Faster response speed
Priority access to new features
Why this matters: With ChatGPT Plus arriving in Germany, you now have the option of making sure it'll always be available to you, and that you can be on the cutting edge of it's upgrades. My personal guess: when ChatGPT is upgraded to run on GPT-4 instead of the current GPT-3.5, ChatGPT Plus users will have access first. We wrote about the coming of GPT-4 in our first issue, if you want to get an idea of how much more powerful it'll be than the current iteration of ChatGPT.
Business Idea of the Week
Promptbase
If you've found that your prompts in ChatGPT or DALLE have been especially effective, there's a good chance that there's people out there willing to buy them from you. If you have no idea how to write good prompts, check out our tool of the week, which will teach you the art of prompt engineering.
It may sound weird at first - are people really willing to pay for the inputs into these AI tools? PromptBase's thriving marketplace answers that question with a resounding yes, and it makes sense - if you can help people extract the maximum value they can out from tools like ChatGPT or DALLE, of course they'll pay you for it.
It takes only a few minutes to make an account and list your prompts for sale, although PromptBase will verify each listing before it's posted. Most prompts sell for around $1.99-$3.99, but depending on your judgement, you can set whatever price you see fit.
If you're a prompt god already, go ahead and list them for sale - who knows, you might be enjoying some extra income on the side before you know it. If you've got no idea what you're doing, check out the prompt learning tool below!
Tool of the Week
Learn Prompting
Learn Prompting is a fantastic free tool that can help anyone, from an absolute beginner to an advanced programmer, learn how to write effective prompts, or 'prompt engineering' (PE). Learn Prompting describes PE as 'How to talk to AI to get it to do what you want', which is a skill we'll all need to develop at some point - might as well get a head start! If you get good enough, you can even sell your prompts on marketplaces like PromptBase.
Learn Prompting is extremely accessible and self-guided. Don't feel intimidated, go check it out and take your use of ChatGPT to the next level.
Picture of the Week
For our DALLE-2 picture of the week we have a literal 'Google Search Engine'. The Reddit author doesn't remember the prompt they used, but we thought it was the perfect picture to go with this week's edition. I don't know much about engines, but this one looks like it may break down soon 🤔
DM us on Twitter via the button below and tell us about your best DALLE-2 prompt for a chance to get featured next week!
Hopefully you've been inspired by what you've just read. Start building!
